AirPods Pro With Fitness Tracking in 2022
Well-informed Mark Gurman and Deby Wu explain in their Bloomberg piece that fitness-tracking AirPods Pro will launch in 2022.
One of the designs Apple reportedly tested for the second-generation AirPods Pro eliminates the stems to create a more compact product.
New Entry-Level AirPods Coming This Year
Aside from fitness-tracking AirPods Pro, Apple should release a pair of entry-level AirPods (now on their second generation) in the near future.
The third-generation AirPods should include some of the previously-rumored features, such as a shorter stem along with a design similar to the AirPods Pro.
Apple could also add new colors to the $549 AirPods Max headphones, the report notes.
Apple Is Working on All-New Beats Earbuds
The company is also readying to launch all-new earbuds under its Beats brand, dubbed Beats Studio Buds. Leaked by 9to5Mac, the new Beats earbuds are thought to drop both stems in order to achieve a compact in-ear design similar to the Bragi Dash wireless earbuds.
These completely wireless earphones should use Apple’s chip for Hey Siri, seamless pairing and device switching, and noise cancellation. Just like the AirPods, these new earbuds are said to come with a charging case.
This unannounced Beats product should debut in June.
In 2020, Apple hired Android and HTC hardware design veteran Scott Croyle to oversee Beats product design. And in 2014, Apple bought Beats Electronics along with the Beats hardware division for $3 billion, its biggest acquisition to date.
