The M1 Chip Comes to iPad Air

The highlight of the new iPad Air model is the addition of the M1 chip. That’s the same Apple silicon found in the newest iPad Pro and many other Mac models. With the M1, iPad Air users can expect up to 60 percent faster performance and twice the graphics performance compared to the previous iPad Air.

So for everyday tasks, and even intensive tasks like editing multiple streams of 4K video, the new iPad Air will definitely be ready to go.

A Better Front-Facing Camera and Center Stage

Another nice addition to the iPad Air is an improved front camera. It now sports an ultra-wide, 12-megapixel camera. That brings the great Center Stage feature to the tablet. If you haven’t heard of the feature, make sure to take a look at our primer that explains what Center Stage is.

In video calls through FaceTime and other apps, the camera will automatically pan around and zoom in and out to keep the speakers in the conversation. The feature definitely helps bring a new level to the video calling experience. The camera will also help provide better video and photos.

Fast 5G Connectivity

And just like the newest iPhone SE, the latest iPad Air will also feature 5G connectivity. That offers fast connectivity when using the tablet. Along with 5G, the tablet even supports the Wi-Fi 6 specification for faster speeds when connected to a wireless network.
